Race Day Logistics

  • For important, detailed race day information and rules, please read your "Survival Guide" and FAQs
  • Arrive at the ski area by 8:00 am at the latest
  • Register/collect bib at the ski area race shack. Parents who have work assignments need to report to the express registration desk in the Race Shack to check in for their assignment and to pick up their racer's bib. Racers will not be able to pick up bibs without parents if parent is assigned to work the race. Click HERE to see if you are assigned to work the race.
  • Purchase lift ticket if you don't have season pass.
  • NVSC coaches will be at the finish line of the respective race course @ 8:30 AM for course inspection. (Race begins at 9AM). Racers should begin to gather at 8:20 to meet coaches in the finish area to prepare for inspection.
  • Racers MAY NOT SKI THROUGH GATES during course inspection - they risk disqualification. This rule does NOT apply to J6 (8 & under group) - they may run the course one time during course inspection.

Discount Race Day Tickets

For those of you who ordered discount race day ticket vouchers at our first practice, the vouchers will be available in the Race Shack during registration on January 3. The vouchers can then be used at the Nashoba ticket window to redeem your racer's ticket for the day. For those who didn't purchase discount vouchers or don't have a season's pass valid for that morning, tickets can be purchased at regular rates at the Nashoba ticket window.

Thursday Practice Information
Practice Group List (PDF - 12/13/09)

Practice Times: 6:30 - 8:30 (J5 - J3)
  6:30 - 8:00 (J6 ONLY - 8 and under racers)
  • Please note that at the request of Nashoba Valley Ski Area, NVSC is not being allowed access to the Race Shack on Thursday practice nights and that the base lodge cafeteria will be utilized for booting up, storing of gear, and where racers should go to if separated from their group during practice. An area will be set aside for NVSC in the cafeteria. Note that this is a major change from previous years so please plan accordingly.
  • Arrive by 6:00 to allow for extra time to purchase tickets, get gear ready, and meet your coach and group as first practices can often be hectic. Purchase lift ticket at ticket window near base lodge if your racer doesn't have a Nashoba pass.
  • Racers should begin to meet their coach/group by 6:20pm in the vicinity of the base lodge.
  • Signs will identify the various groups - J6 (8 and under racers) groups will be identified by "Mittens," "Goggles," "Poles," and so forth while J5 and up groups can be found by locating the J5, J4, and J3 signs and the appropriate coach.
  • NVSC Trustees will be available to assist, answer questions, and provide direction. Please make note of your group and coach in advance to help us get first practice off to a smooth start.
  • If during a practice, a NVSC racer gets separated from his/her practice group and is having trouble relocating the group, please make sure they know to ski down to the base lodge cafeteria, go inside, and inform the adults that are inside of the situation. NVSC always has a parent in the base lodge cafeteria as well as a parent skiing to handle this type of event. These workers are in radio contact so the indoor worker will call the ski parent to come down and escort the child back to the appropriate practice group.
  • Please note that any J6 (8 and under) racer who didn't pick up their practice bib at the Kickoff Party can do so in the base lodge cafeteria beginning at 5:30 Thursday night. Keep it for the season and don't forget to wear it for every practice.
  • Be sure to get your NVSC helmet sticker! Look for them when practice groups are gathering prior to the start of practice.
  • For those of you who weren't able to attend the season Kickoff Party, your racer's team t-shirt can be picked up in the base lodge cafeteria Thursday night at practice until around 7:00 or so.
  • Finally, please be patient as first practices are often "organized chaos." But don't worry as you'll get the hang of it as the season progresses!
