Updated NVSC Helmet Requirement

Don't forget the upcoming season's new helmet requirement. While helmets have always been a NVSC and league requirement, a change is being made to help better protect our racers.

In brief, for safety reasons, no soft ear flap helmets will be allowed this coming season for J5+ racers (9 and older) and complete hard shell ski helmets will be required in order to practice and race with NVSC. It is recommended but not required for J6 (8 and under) racers.

Manufacturers of ski equipment and clothing do not produce as large inventories as in past years so don't wait until winter starts to get the proper helmet if you need one. First practice is anticipated for mid-December and any J5 and up racer (those 9 years and older) without the proper helmet will not be allowed to participate until they comply with this important safety requirement. If anyone has questions, please do not hesitate to use the contacts page on the website and email the board members.

Sample photos of both the soft ear flap helmet (not allowed) and hard shell helmet (required) are shown here for informational purposes, not an endorsement of any brand over another.
