Race Day Information
For important race day information and rules, please read your "Survival Guide" and our FAQs
- Arrive at ski area by 8:00 am at the latest
- Register/coll ect bib at the ski area race shack
- Purchase lift ticket if you don't have a valid season pass
- Race day course inspection will begin at 8:30 am – racers should meet their coaches in the finish area beginning at 8:20am.
- Sometimes J5 and up racers may be split between two different courses on the big hill so it is important to determine which course they are racing on and make sure they inspect the correct course. Racers MAY NOT SKI THROUGH GATES during course inspection - they risk disqualification. This rule does NOT apply to J6 (8 & under racers) - they may run the course one time during course inspection.
- Note that inspection generally takes place in larger groups and that the coach you inspect with may or may not be your Thursday night coach as all coaches don't attend all races. Usually only 3-4 coaches attend each race.

Thursday Practice Information

| Practice Times: |
6:30 – 8:30 |
| |
6:30 – 8:00 (J6 ONLY – 8 and under racers) |
For those of you who haven’t purchased a pass, discount practice night tickets will be available at a designated Nashoba ticket window adjacent to the main lodge (look for sign).
| $23 (12 and under/junior) |
| $25 (13 and up/adult) |
Practice group lists will also be posted in the Race Shack (small building closest to Powers Road/Nashoba entrance).
For those parents of J6 (8 and under) racers who didn’t pick up their practice bib at Open House, practice bibs can be picked up at the Race Shack. Keep it for the season and remember to wear it for every practice.
Racers should have tickets purchased, equipment on, and be ready to ski, meeting their coach/group by 6:30 in front of the Race Shack. Note that due to variable snow conditions this time of year, the meeting place may not be directly adjacent to the Race Shack but closer to the main lodge. Look for the group signs designating J2, J3, etc. and for J6 (8 and under) racers, group names such as “Mittens,” “Goggles,” “Skis,” and so forth.
If during a practice, an NVSC racer gets separated from his/her practice group and is having trouble relocating the group, please make sure they know to ski down to the Race Shack and go inside and inform the adults that are inside of the situation. NVSC always has a parent volunteer in the Race Shack as well as a parent volunteer skiing to handle this type of event. The volunteers are in radio contact so the shack volunteer will call the ski volunteer to come on down and escort the child back to the appropriate practice group.
For those who didn’t order NVSC apparel at the Open House and still wish to, samples can be viewed and orders taken in the Race Shack the first two practice nights from 6:30-7:00. The next order will be made on or about January 9. Click HERE for Order Form.
Finally, please be patient. First practices are always “organized chaos” and can be very hectic so please allow extra time to purchase tickets, get gear ready, and meet your coach and group. You’ll get the hang of it as the season progresses.
